Meet the team: Veneta Dimitrova, Country Lead Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia

Think you know Avon? Think again. We’ve been doing beauty differently for 135 years. From the scientists who mastermind industry-leading innovation in our labs, to the distribution teams around the world who make sure the lipstick is in the box and arrives safely; everyone in the team plays an integral role in supporting our global network of Beauty Advisers and transforming women’s lives through beauty.

 

Tell us about your career journey so far. What do you do in your current position as Country  Lead Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia?

 

I started as an Avon Representative 20 years ago, then went on to develop into various sales and training roles, becoming National Training Manager, then Training Manager for 5 markets followed by the position of National Sales Manager Bulgaria. Since 2019 I have been leading the whole business in Bulgaria, Albania and North Macedonia, enabling women’s economic empowerment and freedom to earn, supporting them to have safe and healthy lives.

 

What makes the team you’re leading unique?

 

A strong team is the foundation of a successful business and I am thankful to work with dedicated professionals, each contributing with a valuable set of skills and experience. Smart, purpose-driven, passionate, determined to provide the best experience for our Reps and ready to go the extra mile.

 

What are you most proud of when it comes to your work at Avon?

 

I’m proud of my team because together we create an environment based on integrity, trust and respect where everyone is free to be authentic and thrive.

I’m proud of our philanthropic work focused on issues that matter most to women: breast cancer and gender-based violence. I’m also proud of Avon’s hard work to be a more sustainable resilient business, from how we create our products to lowering the environmental footprint of our operations. Because we don’t just want to be the best beauty company in the world. We want to be the best beauty company for the world.

 

What do you think Avon’s biggest competitive advantage is?

 

I think it’s the PEOPLE and friendly atmosphere. We create an environment where you can do purposeful work and have a meaningful career. We respect each other, value different opinions, openly share feedback. We embrace individuality and know it’s beautiful to be you. Relationships are at the heart of everything we do and we empower everyone to work in a way that works for them.

 

How do you define success?

 

Effort, learning, consistency.

 

What’s the most important career lesson you have learnt?

 

Don’t give up, no matter how hard it is. And if you fail, know that failure is not an end. It’s an opportunity. It's a chance to reevaluate and come back stronger.

 

What would you advise young people looking for a career in Sales?

 

Prepare yourself to work hard and enjoy what you are doing. Embarking on a career in Sales can be an incredible journey and the social, networking aspect is amazing. You will get to meet so many people, make friends, find mentors, travel, learn new things, overcome challenges and grow both personally and professionally. And if your job becomes a true passion, success is sure to follow.
