Meet the team: Zornitsa Tsvetkova, Accounting Manager Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia

Tell us about your career journey so far.

I joined Avon in 2011 as Intern in Finance department and since then I have held different positions, covering different countries, being part of big and small teams. Currently I am leading the Accounting department for Bulgaria, Albania and North Macedonia, managing а team full of pretty ladies and supporting other departments with all activities related to accounting.

What do you do as Accounting Manager BAM?

I am responsible for tax and accounting for all three countries and monitor monthly, quarterly and year-end closings for both – IFRS and US GAAP standards. One of my main responsibilities is to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the reporting to tax authorities and the compliance with local related regulations. Part of my job is to observe that every аssociate is aware of Avon’s accounting policies, procedures and processes.

What is the most challenging part of your job? And what is the most rewarding part?

For the past 11 years, I have been through a lot of challenges, but I am grateful because they helped me grow professionally and personally. I have learned a lot of lessons and keep learning every day. Being part of a multinational company with more than 135 years history, I have the opportunity to work with different people, from different countries, religions and geographies. And this is not a challenge but a rewarding experience as with some of them we are not only colleagues but friends as well.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your work at Avon?

Everyone should be proud of working at Avon, as it is not only a beauty company, selling lipsticks and mascaras, it is a company dedicated to creating a better world for women. Only this year in Bulgaria, we have managed to donate BGN 70,000 for the fight against breast cancer. We also donated sanitary products for the people affected from the war in Ukraine. And last but not least, we’re committed to raising awareness of gender-based violence and we fund life-saving front-line services.

Can you share something that people probably don’t know about the company.

The Bulgarian market is one of the most profitable markets in our Region this year and this is not only because of the good sales results, but also because of the perfect discipline of our associates, trying to achieve all set goals and KPIs. Being an Accounting Manager, I am proud that Avon has a good reputation in front of tax authorities, audit companies and other regulatory institutions.

What is the most important career lesson you have learnt?

During the years, I have been through different transformations, not only in Finance, but in the whole company, and only the quick adaptation to changes, processes, systems, etc. helped me to succeed and gave me the chance to learn from all the experience.

What would you advise young people looking for a career in Finance?

Someone may think that working in Finance is boring. Believe me, it is not. You may have a chance to work with a lot of people from different departments, even countries. Being part of global, regional or local projects, learning and growing in a big multinational company. If you want to have a successful career in Finance, you should be always ready to support others, learn, adapt and be in line with regulatory changes.
